Summary:

Why Mindful Eating for the Beloved Community in the Virgin Islands? The Virgin Islands is one of the most cherished Beloved Communities. The Virgin Islands have a landmass of 346 square kilometers. 76% of the population is African American/Black and 96% of its food is imported.

Learn about food injustice in the U.S. Virgin Islands and how Chef Alex Askew and the Black Culinarian Alliance (aka BCAGlobal.org) used NNLM funding to build community relationships and increase food literacy. Hear from a panel of participants about their experiences with this work. This presentation addresses improved access to health information and the NNLM initiative of Environmental Detriments of Health.
